Summer Claims Legal Internship

The 10-week internship program offers cross-disciplined legal internship opportunities providing interns with valuable projects, mentorship opportunities, educational sessions and potential future employment opportunities.
As a Markel Claims Legal Intern, you will gain valuable hands-on experience working in our stimulating work environment. You will apply your educational insights and learning in a real-world business setting as you gain knowledge about the insurance industry. You will have a broad range of responsibilities from across the Claims organization which may include legal research projects, drafting legal opinions, contract review, and claims-handling tasks to support the various functions within the Claims organization at Markel.
Markel's Internship program will provide you with exposure to Claims including but not limited to claims operations, claims coverage, claims litigation and claims compliance.
Qualifications:
- Law student in good standing from an ABA accredited law school (rising 3L)
- Strong academic performance (3.0 GPA minimum)
- Highly adaptable and comfortable with fast pace and shifting priorities.
- Detail-oriented and well-organized.
- Strong desire to learn and apply knowledge.
- Confident and intellectually curious.
- Excellent analytical ability and legal research and drafting skills.
- Ability to exhibit effective communication and interpersonal skills with high degree of professionalism.
- Ability to work in Chicago, IL for the summer. Housing and relocation are not provided.
