Health, Safety, and Environmental Intern

The Health, Safety and Environmental summer Intern is responsible for providing support for the SOPREMA National HSE Manager and the Wadsworth facility. The HSE Intern will assist with the development of core health, safety and environmental programs, communications, trainings and materials. 

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Update raw material safety data sheets (SDS) in electronic on-line system
  • Draft SDS for finished goods on new or existing products
  • Create HSE related inspection forms and conduct inspections as needed
  • Assist development of training materials to be used in production
  • Create and publish HSE content for communication boards in the facility
  • Learn POKA project and design checklists as requested. 
  • Team player but also able to work individually
  • Other projects as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Working toward a degree in the Health, Safety, Environmental or chemistry field of study. 
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft office including Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to details and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines

 

Working Conditions and/or Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
  • Up to 40 hours a week while not attending classes which could include coming in early or staying late

 

 

Reports to the National HSE Manager.
