Finance Intern

The Mezzanine Fund Internship Opportunity

 

The Mezzanine Fund provides flexible debt capital to businesses owned by women and people of color.  The mission is to invest $100 million in roughly 25 companies that each have the opportunity to reach $50 million+ in annual revenue.  The vision is to close wealth gaps by expanding the scale and industry distribution of diverse-owned businesses using a builder capital model. 

 

SUMMARY AND OBJECTIVE 

The Mezzanine Fund intern will be an integral team member as the fund is in its early stages with the team engaged in raising funds from investors, sourcing companies to invest in and building relationships and infrastructure.  The internship provides an introduction to fund management, start-up best practices and commercial lending to small businesses.  Intern will be providing analytical and operational support for the fund. 

 

Primary activities include:

 

  • Conducting industry research and analysis
  • Analyzing prospective borrowers
  • Developing system and constructing templates for loan underwriting process
  • Assisting in marketing and brand awareness

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED 

  • Solid research, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently towards meeting deadlines
  • Knowledge of Excel, Word and Power Point

 

Preferred background and experience in Finance, Entrepreneurship, Accounting, Business Administration or related majors, or experience or coursework in accounting or finance. 

 

Internship is based in Cleveland, Ohio, working 10 am – 6 pm, 3-5 days a week, preferably hybrid – All conditions are flexible
