Child Welfare Caseworker - Intake and Investigations

What Will You Do

  • Investigates allegations of abuse, neglect, dependency, delinquency and unruliness by gathering data from relatives, neighbors, police, schools, etc.
  • Verifies need for services
  • Provides crisis intervention services
  • Prepares court reports, attends court sessions, testifies on finding of investigation and makes recommendations to court
  • Interviews children, families, witnesses and collateral sources for assessment of risk and crisis services to children
  • Supervises visits
  • Transports youth
  • Counsels with clients
  • Visits homes to investigate child protective situations and monitor family situation
  • Visits other locations to make contact with children who may be at risk
  • Reviews and assesses cases; receives and writes report of child maltreatment and unruliness; writes investigative assessment of child maltreatment and unruliness; processes investigative reports according to time frames.

Qualifications

What do we need from you?

  • Successful applicants must have strong written and verbal communication skills, thrive in a fast-paced environment and value the diversity offered by a major metropolitan community.
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology or related degree is required 
  • Master’s degree in social work or related degree is preferred
  • All positions are subject to a criminal background, fingerprinting, employment verification, and motor vehicle report check.
