About Position:

The Research and innovation function (R&I) leads Syensqo into new growth territories with breakthrough innovation to generate new products, applications, and processes in the field of sustainable chemistry. 

The Agricultural Specialties lab is devoted to developing innovative technological solutions in response to Syensqo’s customer needs for liquid and dry pesticides (synthetic and biological) formulations, fertilizer protection, seed care, and tank mix adjuvants. This role is responsible for developing innovative solutions for agricultural formulation applications in response to Syensqo’s customer needs. We are looking for talented and motivated students to join us in this adventure!

BASIC PURPOSE OF POSITION

Syensqo is seeking a Chemistry/Material Science/Physical Chemistry/Chemical Engineering/Microbiology student with an interest in the development of innovative products. 

Under the guidance of an experienced scientist, the role will involve different types of activities: help to develop new potent formulations against weeds; help develop new experimental setups, test new concepts and materials to improve the bio-efficacy of pesticides, work on the development of formulation using biodegradable products.

The primary purpose of this position is to assist in the experimentation, data gathering, and use of different lab equipment, under the supervision and guidance of senior agricultural specialties scientists.

This position will also require analyzing, reporting, and presenting data and findings to communicate clearly with the project teams and scientists. 

As an intern, you will have the opportunity to acquire valuable industry knowledge and gain insights into research and development (R&D) methodologies. Your focus will be on the development and formulation of various agrochemicals, regulatory compliance with agrochemical regulations, testing methods, and the analysis of the physical-chemical properties of chemicals. Additionally, you will collaborate with other Syensqo agricultural labs across the globe as part of the North American agricultural market Lab.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carry out common laboratory experiments and analyze the results 
  • Document procedures in lab notebooks and in other technical documentation
  • Work collaboratively with peers, project team members, and customers toward successful project completion
  • Test and analyze the efficacy, stability, and physical characteristics of formulations
  • Assist in designing and conducting field trials of formulations
  • Conduct literature reviews and patent searches on agrochemical ingredients and formulations.


 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • BS or MS or PhD level in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Physical Chemistry, Microbiology, Material Science, Plant Science or related
  • Hands-on lab experience in analytical, organic, and polymer synthesis or formulation
  • Data processing and visualization (such as Excel, Google Sheets, JMP/Minitab )
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Adaptability to change to project pace
  • Knowledge of the Design of Experiments (DOE) is a plus
  • Experience with agrochemical formulations is a plus
  • Continuous learning and an experimentation mindset are critical to success.
