Job purpose

This position is responsible for monitoring and supervising staff of youth and adult sports including practices, clinics, and games. Ensures the safety of all participants, participates in planning and implementing quality OABGC programming, and will serve as a positive role model to all program participants.

Duties and responsibilities

 

  • Sports Program
    • Assist with the implementation of a coaches and referee clinic that teaches successful coaching techniques and stresses the philosophy of the Boys & Girls Club.
    • Assist with the implementation of programs from BGCA such as Triple Play, Fitness Authority, etc., and overall assistance with program management, evaluation, and implementation from BGCA.
    • Assist with the annual tournaments for basketball and baseball.  Ensure the needs are covered for concessions, refs, equipment, and volunteer coverage.
    • Exhibits confidence in self and others.  Inspires and motivates others to perform well.  
    • Assist with the evaluations, tracking and documentation of progress for all participants in the program.
    • Assist in the daily maintenance and upkeep of the physical areas that the athletic director is responsible for.
    • Assist with the development and Implementation of a fitness and nutrition education program.  
    • Ensure the equipment is functional and is in supply when it is needed.  
    • Assist with any and all special events such as the golf outing, polar bear jump, etc. 
    • Prepare Sports fields and courts for use including equipment set up and breakdown
    • Provide training for coaches, parents, and staff that are scheduled to help with sports programs
    • Serve as score keeper, timekeeper, referee, etc. as needed.
    • Track attendance of participants in games, clinics, and practices (maintain record)
    • Ensure effective communication with parents, colleagues, volunteers, and participants

 

  • All other duties as assigned for the betterment of the organization.
  • Position requires availability to work evenings and weekends.

 

 

Qualifications

 

Listed below are the minimum qualifications required to successfully perform the job. These are the qualifications that are necessary for someone to be considered for the position.

 

Qualifications include:

  • A background in athletics and Physical Education programs and activities.
  • Physical ability to lead in group activities and to perform related physical skills
  • Knowledge and skills that will motivate and highly involve Club members in programming.
  • The ability to organize and supervise leagues, staff, and program areas.
  • A valid Ohio driver’s license and be insurable preferred
  • Ability to lift 50lbs
