Field Surveyor

Position Description

Responsibility over the operation and maintenance of survey equipment including GPS Mapping Systems. Verify earthwork take-offs, engineering, and existing field conditions. Performing surveys and construction layout for civil construction operations. Maintain detailed daily records to prepare plots, maps, and reports. Coordinate with the Professional Surveyor as to the methods to be employed on the project and appropriate job schedule. Assist in creating a strategy for completion of the project and ensure the safest, most efficient methods are being utilized in accordance with the project’s budget and schedule. Utilize knowledge of the trade and the work involved to resolve problems with appropriate and timely decisions. 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Knowledge of GPS Surveying/GPS Assisted Heavy Equipment device setup/operation.
  2. Ability to maintain and set-up survey-grade GPS equipment in the field.
  3. Experience with construction layout and surveying heavy highway, subdivision, and utility projects.
  4. Working knowledge of field surveying methods and equipment including Data Collectors, Total Stations, Robotics, and GPS/UTS instruments.
  5. AutoCAD drawing experience, topographical surveys, and earthwork calculations.
  6. General office knowledge and computer skills with the ability to work both unattended and as part of a team.
