Observation Well Technician (Summer Seasonal 25671)

Wage: $14.18 per hour

Position Description:
These are seasonal positions with the duration of employment typically lasting from early-May to mid-August. The position involves independent field work with extensive travel. Overnight travel is required and transportation during work activities will be in a state vehicle.

Job duties may include:

  • measuring water levels in state owned observation wells;
  • data recording on a tablet running Android-OS;
  • assist in quality assurance/quality control for observation well network;
  • downloading data from electronic recorders using a Windows based PC.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • attentive driving skills;
  • ability to work independently;
  • familiarity with a surface tablet;
  • basic use of hand tools.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • The applicant must possess a valid driver’s license, be able to drive a car or light truck, and be willing to travel.
  • The applicant must be capable of occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds and perform manual labor outdoors in a variety of weather conditions on uneven terrain (e.g. road ditches)

Preference will be given to students having completed at least one year post-secondary education. Students studying environmental/natural resources, science, or engineering majors are encouraged to apply.
