GENERAL SUMMARY AND OVERVIEW STATEMENT

Skeletal Health and Osteoporosis Center is a clinical and research program within the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Hypertension at the Brigham and Women's Hospital, a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School. Our research focuses on clinical and translational research in osteoporosis, fractures, physical performance, and other areas of musculoskeletal health. The Research Assistant will have the opportunity to engage in many facets of clinical research, such as grant writing, manuscript preparation, and working with trial participants. The department is looking for a motivated individual to work as a Research Assistant helping in the development, implementation, and analysis of research protocols.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee three to four active clinical studies; tasks include the planning, development, and implementation of clinical protocols.
  • Perform Dual X-ray Absorptiometry (DXA) scans for research studies.
  • Collect and enter data and manage study databases.
  • Preparation and submission of research protocol to the IRB.
  • Ensure that clinical research activities are carried out in compliance with Partners IRB and established research protocol.
  • Assist in data analysis.
  • Provides collaboration and administrative coordination between investigators and ancillary departments, research subjects, and/or sponsoring organizations.
  • Participates in manuscript preparation, editing and submission. Specific tasks include literature searches and reference checking and documenting using EndNote software.
  • Assists in grant preparation and submission.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • We are looking for candidates who can start as early as the end of April 
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree
  • 2 years commitment
  • Experience in research methods and research protocols preferred
  • We are looking for candidates interested in going on to graduate or medical school

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Experience in research
  • Experience in data collection, data management, and data analysis methods
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, database management, and possibly EndNote
  • Organized and dependable
  • Must possess initiative
  • Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team
