Video Editor - Documentaries - Freedom to Produce

CQI looking for a mature, responsible, and creative Video and Motion Picture Editor to join our team. As a Biography Editor, you will play a pivotal role in crafting videos and films that tell a person's life history, struggles, and positive characteristics. Your expertise in film editing will be instrumental in telling the person's life story. An interest in crime/psychology is a plus (but not needed). 

You will be given all footage, screenshots, photos, etc to review via cloud storage. You will have creative freedom after understanding the person's life story. You will serve as the producer, post-director, story creator, editor, etc. You will also be giving feedback to the team on reshoots, conducting additional interviews, etc.

This job requires someone who is organized, responsible, mature, confident, and able to complete deadlines. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Expertly edit raw footage to create immersive and emotionally resonant films.
  • Collaborate with our visionary creative team to comprehend and execute the cinematic vision of our film and commercial projects.
  • Efficiently organize and manage a treasure trove of media assets specific to our productions.
  • Employ visual effects, seamless transitions, and evocative soundscapes to elevate storytelling.
  • Continuously innovate and refine editing techniques, ensuring the highest caliber of artistry.
  • Meet project deadlines while upholding uncompromising quality standards.
  • The ability to consult and assist the production crew on shoots to ensure the proper assets are being collected.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • A proven track record as a Motion Picture and Commercial editor, with a strong portfolio showcasing some feature film editing experience.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard video editing software, such as Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects
  • Proficiency with Adobe design suite, such as Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.
  • A profound grasp of cinematic storytelling, pacing, and the nuances of visual composition, particularly in the context of feature films.
  • Unwavering attention to detail and an innate organizational prowess.
  • A knack for thriving under pressure and delivering on tight timelines.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with color grading and proficiency in visual effects software, with a focus on feature film post-production.
  • A diverse editing background, encompassing various forms of video, including feature films, documentaries, and commercials.
  • Aptitude in audio editing and mixing, with an emphasis on feature film soundscapes.
