Student Intern (Summer 2024) - Marketing & Communications

PeaceHealth is seeking a Student Intern for a Part-time, Day position. The general salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $18.00 – $26.46. The actual hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to, the job/position responsibilities, location, terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement, education, training, work experience, seniority, work performance, etc.

**Onsite position. The Student Intern will live in Ketchikan, AK by start date - Summer 2024.

This position generally works up to 20 hours per week, as needed. Start/end dates are flexible. Approximately 150 hours.

JOB SUMMARY
 

PeaceHealth Student Interns will experience the healthcare profession through an administrative lens by participating in department level discussions and decision-making regarding strategic and operational objectives. The internship will include the completion of an independently designed special project, intended to benefit the organization after the internship concludes. In addition to the assigned project, interns may have the opportunity to experience day-to-day operations (e.g., daily readiness huddles, staff seminars and trainings, etc.), as well as the possibility of interacting with patients, families and staff through rounds and other engagement experiences.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Understand and adhere to style guides and graphic brand standards. Ability to communicate verbally and electronically, and troubleshoot print and graphic nuances to ensure compliance and good print and digital production.
  • Produce and curate content for internal and external publications.
  • Draft, post and monitor social media content.
  • Draft press releases to communicate PeaceHealth updates to local media outlets.
  • Take and edit photos.
  • Draft ad copy for print and digital ads.
  • Curate content and update digital displays.
  • Support various events that occur annually.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

  • Working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, Business, Social Science, Liberal Arts, Public Administration, or related field.

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

  • Must have earned at least 60 semester credit hours at the college/university level (or equivalent) and have a cumulative GPA of no less than 2.0

OTHER SKILLS:

  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Professional level writing skills required. Ability to produce accurate, readable written copy following available style guides.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.
  • Strong organizational skills, detail oriented and able to work independently.
  • Familiarity with social networking tools and strategy.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Suite preferred

Working Conditions

Lifting

  • Consistently operates computer and other office equipment.
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Sedentary work.

Environmental Conditions

  • Predominantly operates in an office environment.
  • Some time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.

Mental/Visual

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
