Insurance Agency Sales Internship
Job Description
The internship will provide a student the opportunity to learn and gain experience as an Insurance/Agent Producer with Wichert Insurance, a large Ohio Independent Insurance Agency. The intern will:
- Assist current Agency Owners and Producers in generating leads, attending sales calls and meetings, and completing non-licensed tasks that support the sales process.
- Develop insurance acumen learning about the various niche/specialty businesses and clients of Wichert Insurance
- Help the agency improve their processes and capabilities in using their Sales Management and Policy Management Platforms.
Interns will learn and experience all the processes required to run a successful agency including service, sales, marketing, underwriting, & claims. Interns may be assigned non-licensed customer service tasks, special projects, and other administrative tasks to assist the agency.
In addition, interns will have the opportunity to learn and gain exposure to the broader insurance industry by visiting and/or learning from insurance carriers, trade organizations, and the Department of Insurance.
Successful candidates will have a strong interest in a sales career and an openness to exploring a career as an independent insurance sales agent. Key competencies include personal initiative, active learner, communication, relationship building, customer service, and sales.
Ohio Insurance Agents (OIA) Summer Internship Program
Ohio Insurance Agents (OIA) is the premier trade association for Independent Insurance Agents in Ohio. OIA serves our members in four key areas: advocacy, professional development, business solutions, and industry thought leadership. We represent over 1000 independent agencies across Ohio.
Intern Placement
OIA is coordinating the internship program on behalf of our member agencies. Interns will be interviewed, selected, and employed (paid) by the individual agencies. The HR policies and guidelines of the agency will apply to the internship. In addition to $16/hr students who successfully complete the internship will receive a $500 scholarship from the OIA Foundation.
This internship is with Wichert Insurance. The internship may reside in either their Cuyahoga Falls, Westerville, Lancaster, or Medina offices. Learn more about the agency on their website https://www.wichert.com/

Agencies are looking to turn internships into full time job offers post graduation. Extended part-time work opportunities may be possible depending on the success of the internship.
