R&D Scientist

Industrie De Nora is seeking to fill a full-time R&D Scientist position within its Corporate R&D division, located at the De Nora Tech, LLC facility in Concord, Ohio, about 30 minutes northeast of downtown Cleveland. Come be a part of a dedicated, global team of researchers tasked with growing De Nora’s portfolio of innovative, sustainable electrode solutions for low temperature water electrolysis, fuel cells, CO2/carbon conversion, and other emerging electrochemical technologies.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design new catalytic materials, coatings, and electrode solutions for industrial electrochemical applications
  • Work within interdisciplinary teams to develop industrially viable processes to scale up new products
  • Contribute to new project creation, helping to guide research programs with opportunities for technical and leadership growth 
  • Manage project activities and budgets, generate progress reports, and present work to peers and management  
  • Develop external relationships with universities and other research institutes to form collaborative research programs
  • Actively participate in EH&S and 5S related laboratory activities
  • Travel up to 5%, including international

 

Qualifications and Experience:

A successful candidate should be a highly-motivated self-starter, capable of utilizing their scientific background and creativity to find solutions to technical challenges within a dynamic and fast-paced industrial research environment. Ideally, the candidate should have the all the following qualifications:

  • PhD in Chemistry, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field with a focus on electrochemistry 
  • Knowledge and experience with development of catalysts and electrodes for applications such as water electrolysis (i.e. liquid alkaline, AEM, and PEM), fuel cells, carbon conversion, energy storage and conversion, and related applications and technologies 
  • A strong hands-on experimental capability and safety ethic     
  • Familiarity with common laboratory process equipment and instrumentation
  • Ability to work autonomously in an efficient and timely manner with strong organization and communication skills
