Research and Analysis Lead - Economist (GS-15)

The Secretary’s Office of Energy Jobs at DOE is seeking an Energy Jobs Research and Analysis Lead for a permanent career position at the GS-15 level. This is a senior position leading a team of DOE staff and implementers to perform and communicate high-impact economic and employment research and analysis.

Responsibilities
Projects under your direction will include the iconic U.S. Energy and Employment Report, which is conducted in partnership with BW Research, and an energy workforce needs assessment to understand future demand and supply in the labor market for energy-related industries and occupations. You will manage the Energy Jobs Council, a group of trusted advisors from across the federal and state governments, to ideate and improve federal energy jobs research, and identify and direct new high-impact research projects to advance DOE's mission. Under the Invest in America Agenda, DOE is making historic investments in clean energy deployment, and in this position, you will help inform workforce policy and programs to ensure that employers will be able to attract and retain the skilled workers required to meet ambitious climate and clean energy goals. 

 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is someone with a proven track record of turning their inspired vision into reality through rigorous research that can be widely used across sectors, and by policymakers, to inform energy and workforce policy and programs. 

 

In your application, please illustrate evidence of your ability to perform original research and analysis related to economic and employment impacts, labor market dynamics-- particularly related to construction and/or manufacturing, job quality, registered apprenticeship and other training models. Effective written and oral communication and exceptional organizational and project management skills are essential.
