Process Engineer

Due to continued rapid expansion, we are seeking skilled and highly motivated Process Engineer in a Plastics Factory. We specialize in custom plastics manufacturing. This Process Engineer will serve as the expert to set up, operate, troubleshoot and control processes of plastic injection mold machines. The primary duty is to optimize the run time and keep it on track and problem solve efficiently to reduce production downtime.

Process Engineer Knowledge, duties, and expectations of this role include, but are not limited to:

  •  Formal injection molding/ scientific molding training preferred
  •  New tool sampling and approval
  •  Engineer initial processes that are optimal and stable
  •  Understanding of materials: terms, types, testing methods
  •  Machine side interaction with customers and other molding professionals
  •  Possible supervision of Process Technicians and Mold Setters
  • Ability to create and present injection molding training modules
  • Experience with automation, assembly, and decorating methods
  • Estimate machine size, cycle times, and options needed for incoming products
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing and Quick Mold Change events
  • Perform Capability Studies to determine machine repeatability levels
  • Create documentation for processes and procedures within the injection molding area
  • Limited domestic travel (5%)

Process Engineer Knowledge and Skills

  • Technical diploma preferred
  • 10+ years in a manufacturing environment, preferably plastics
  • Minimum of 5 years in a Process Technician or Mold Setting position
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Strong hands-on injection molding processing and troubleshooting ability
  • Injection molding tooling knowledge
  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of robotics
  • Experience with multi-shot molding, and color blending
  • Ability to communicate root cause issues and actions being implemented
