Research Assistant/Staff – Post-Baccalaureate (PREP) Scholars

This research assistant/staff position is associated with the University of New Mexico Post-Baccalaureate Research and Education Programs (PREP and Cancer-PREP), thus only those individuals applying to PREP should file an application. Selected scholars must demonstrate a commitment to pursuing a Ph.D. in biomedical research or a career in a cancer research field and have completed a bachelor's degree within the past three years, additional eligibility requirements are detailed in the links above. 

Selected scholars will provide laboratory technical assistance, as assigned, in the collection, processing, and coordination of data, samples, and/or specimens for a specified research study or group of biomedical or cancer research studies. Work directly with a faculty mentor, within established research protocol and under specific instructions as to method, process, and technique to perform or assist with routine tests, experiments, and/or procedures relevant to the field of study. 

Under general supervision, scholars perform standardized and/or prescribed data collection and analytical procedures for a specified life sciences field research study. This includes but is not limited to - collecting and preparing data, biological samples, and/or specimens, and conducting a variety of standardized tests and/or analyses in accordance with detailed protocol and procedural specifications. Participate as appropriate in the interpretation of field research data and in the publication, and/or presentation of results.
