As we embark on our journey to redefine the shrimp aquaculture industry, we are seeking a visionary Director of Farming Operations to join our founding team.

Job Summary:

As the Director of Farming Operations and a critical member of our founding team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our company. This is an opportunity to lead, innovate, and earn equity in Pacifica’s vision. You will be responsible for the strategic leadership and operational oversight of our first shrimp farm. Your role involves managing a team of technicians, ensuring compliance with regulations, optimizing operational efficiency, and collaborating with industry experts for continuous improvement. In addition to managing the daily operations, your role involves overseeing the construction of the farm, collaborating closely with our technology partner to align on best practices, supervising the installation of equipment, and creating the strategy to ensure the initial harvest occurs on schedule. Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement aquaculture strategies aligned with the company's goals. Provide vision and leadership for the operations team.
  • Founding Team Member: As part of our founding team, you will have a direct hand in shaping our strategic vision and guiding our company to success.
  • Team Management: Manage and mentor a team of technicians. Provide training, guidance, and support to ensure high performance and adherence to protocols.
  • Operational Oversight: Oversee day-to-day operations of the farming facility, including water quality management, feeding protocols, disease prevention, and maintenance activities.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze data related to shrimp growth, feed conversion, water quality, and other parameters. Use data-driven insights to optimize operational efficiency and productivity.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards, environmental regulations, and company policies. Maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with research institutions, government entities, universities, and other industry experts to stay updated with the latest advancements in aquaculture techniques.
  • Budgeting and Cost Management: Develop and manage budgets for the farming operations. Monitor costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure efficient resource utilization.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement quality assurance protocols to ensure the production of high-quality, disease-free shrimp.
  • Reporting: Prepare regular reports for senior management, detailing operational performance, challenges, and proposed solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Business, Agricultural Economics, Aquaculture, Marine Biology, or related field. Additional certifications in aquaculture management are a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 6 years of experience in aquaculture or farming operations or related fields, with a proven track record of managing successful farming operations. Experience in shrimp farming preferred.
  • Leadership Skills: Minimum of 4 years of experience in leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to communicate complex technical information effectively.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing market conditions, technologies, and operational requirements.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with aquaculture regulations, environmental standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Passion: Genuine passion for sustainable aquaculture/farming and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare and environmental stewardship.
