Contract Specialist

Contract Specialists are assigned to work with professional Contracting Officers. They receive formal and on-the-job training in reviewing requirements packages, solicitation preparation, cost/price justification, negotiation and award of contracts, and administration of contracts. Contract Specialists assist in purchasing goods and services for the United States Air Force (USAF). Employees in Contracting are at the heart of a complex process of satisfying Air Force requirements for everything from quantum computing, intelligence data analysis, complex aerospace systems such as satellites, electronics, and high-performance aircraft to commercially available supplies and services necessary for the day-to-day operation of a military installation. Throughout the process, contracting personnel must ensure procedures are followed which reflect the proper interpretation of a myriad of laws and regulations, and which are capable of withstanding the scrutiny of the Federal Courts, the General Accounting Office (GAO), the United States Congress, and the American public.

Minimum Requirements are US citizenship, GPA of 3.0 and above, and a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree. NOTE: Business/accounting/economic/finance degrees are considered most competitive for this position.

Starting salary is approximately $49K for Bachelors and $59.9K for Masters – with growth potential in the first 2-3 years to reach approximately $87K. For those with specialized experience, it may differ. NOTE: These salaries are based on calendar year 2024 Government pay scales. Future hiring years will increase with posted Government pay scales.
