Sojourner Truth Academy (STA) is currently seeking a committed, passionate Math Specialist, who holds a belief in the ability of our scholars, to join our team for the 2023-2024 school year. We are reviewing applicants now.
POSITION SUMMARY
The main responsibility of the Math Specialist role at Sojourner Truth Academy is to provide high-quality instructional coaching to licensed staff in their grade level/content areas. The STA coaching model includes completing formal evaluation cycles 2-3 times per school year as well as frequent informal observations and walk-throughs. The Instructional Specialist will hold regular coaching meetings with teachers to empower them in their areas of strength, set goals in the areas of improvement, and provide specific, observable action steps to increase student achievement. Duties specific to math include supporting the implementation of a newly adopted (21-22) math curriculum across all grade levels, pre-kindergarten to 8th; facilitating professional development and Professional Learning Community (PLC) work; providing feedback on lesson plans; and reviewing internal and standardized assessment data to support the teachers with re-teach and extension plans. This position will work closely with the Director of Teaching & Learning to carry out the academic vision and program goals to ensure student learning and academic success.

REQUIRED TRAINING QUALIFICATIONS
CERTIFICATE & LICENSURE: Minnesota Teaching License
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three years teaching experience
