Middle/High School Math Teacher

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must hold at least a Bachelor's Degree
  • Must hold a valid Ohio teaching certificate/license
  • Must successfully pass a BCI/FBI background check
  • Must successfully comply with a tuberculin testing requirement
 
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Middle/High School Math Teacher within a private, residential treatment facility.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Manages, supervises and practices effective leadership skills in the classroom and serves    as an appropriate role model for students/residents in accordance with generally recognized professional standards
  • Develop and implement appropriate instructional program for each learner served.
  • Prepares daily instruction that directly relates to the Ohio State/CORE curriculum standards and the learner's instructional program
  • Operates and maintains equipment in the classroom
  • Provides a safe and secure learning environment
  • Current certification non-violent therapeutic crisis intervention
  • Keeps the classroom, desk, shelves, and cabinets clear and orderly
  • Will keep the classroom appropriately safe and abide by expectations of the Abraxas Facility
  • Maintains a firm, fair, consistent, and respectful approach to the instruction of students/residents through appropriate learning, discipline, and an atmosphere conducive to learning
  • Maintain communications with Abraxas staff concerning student’s behavior and academic performance through: weekly performance evaluations, incident reports, and communication with Abraxas staff in the school
  • Evaluate and report student’s academic progress to appropriate individuals through: mid-term grades, end-of-term grades, and special education/IEP specific needs and goals
  • Assist in the development of school curriculum
  • Assist in the selection of instructional materials
  • Attend Abraxas school meetings/PD and Abraxas meetings/PD as requested
  • Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the Educational Director of Abraxas
  • Collaborate with Intervention Specialists to ensure identified accommodations/supports are being provided in the classroom.
  • Complete all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Physical abilities include standing, walking, sitting for extended periods, operating a computer, talking/hearing, near and far visual acuity/depth perception/color vision/field of vision required and occasionally to reach with hands and arms

Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Principal of Abraxas according to Mid-Ohio ESC board policy.
