
Special Education Tutor- Title 1
Job Description: A Special Education Tutor is responsible for providing the appropriate accommodations and modifications to the set curriculum for their students. Their duties include identifying the individual needs of their students, creating a supportive and effective learning environment and ensuring their students have the resources they need to succeed.
Qualifications
- Valid Ohio Special Education license or Supplemental License
- Basic knowledge of state and federal regulations related to special education
- Effective communication skills
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education find appropriate
Essential Functions
- Writing/ implementing IEPs
- Identify the individual needs of each child
- Collaborating with the general education teacher
- Create a positive learning environment.
- Teaching a small group of students and individuals inside and outside of the classroom
- Preparing and executing lessons and resources
- Assessing the students’ work
- Developing and adapting individualized teaching methods that are suitable for each of their students
- Using special tools and equipment provided to stimulate an interesting learning environment
- Maintaining data
- Providing progress reports
- Remain current on special education laws, rules, and procedures through the attendance of related professional development
- Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Organization and problem solving skills
- Ability to navigate IEP programs
- Ability to accurately and quickly type
- Knowledge of IDEA and other rules
- Knowledge of Special Education forms (IEP, PR01, ETR, etc)
