Social Media Intern

Reports to:                  Director of Marketing
 
Summary:                   The Social Media Intern is an essential part of the Malco marketing team and will contribute to the marketing effort by developing and executing outreach and promotional campaigns to boost brand engagement and increase revenue.
                       
A skilled social media intern should be an expert storyteller and understand current content marketing trends. To ensure success as a social media intern, you should show a keen eye for detail and be highly creative. You should be a self-starter and independent worker who can take clear direction and complete the projects assigned promptly.
 
Responsibilities:          These responsibilities are intended to provide an overview of the Social Media Intern role. This list is not inclusive – other duties may be assigned to support the growth of the business.
 
·        Assist with the design and execution of social media campaigns across multiple platforms and brands
·        Assist with the development of weekly and monthly content calendars to promote company brands on various social media platforms and digital media placements
·        Create and/or distribute content such as blogs, infographics, videos, and press releases on social media
·        Track social media engagement to identify high-performing content and campaigns for scalability
·        Support marketing team at live events as needed
·        Perform social media marketing research and recommend improvements that will positively impact the company brands
·        Work with the Director of Marketing or Director of Sales to respond to comments and DMs on social media platforms
·        Brainstorm and research ideas for original content
·        Write social media captions that speak to the company’s target audience for each brand
·        Help create and edit short-form videos
·        Develop new strategies for increasing engagement
·        Assist with photo/video content shoots
·        Ensure brand voice and message are consistent
·        Other projects as assigned by the Director of Marketing
Requirements:             
 
·        Educational track to a Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or similar is preferred
·        An Associates Degree along with a minimum of 2 years experience in content creation, marketing, communications, or similar will be considered
·        A portfolio of work or class-related examples
·        Completion of a long- and short-form writing assignment
 
Experience:     
           
·        Advanced skills in using an iPhone to shoot mobile photography, reels, and stories
·        Advanced business-to-business and business-to-consumer writing abilities for long- and short-form content
·        Strong understanding of MS Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
·        Experience with Adobe Creative Suite preferred
·        Understanding of e-Commerce, digital trends, and tools
·        Creative problem solver with great attention to detail
·        Self-motivated and strong team player
·        Ability to implement and manage projects simultaneously
·        Understand content management best practices
·        Detail and deadline oriented
·        Strong organizational skills
·        Familiarity with web analytics tools (i.e., Google Analytics, Meltwater, Semrush, Jungle Scout) is a plus
·        Experience with CMS/e-Commerce platforms (i.e., Constant Contact, Kentico, Klavio) is a plus
·        Familiarity with content marketing tools (i.e., AgoraPulse, Hubspot, Exact Target, Marketo) is a plus
·        Experience with project management platforms (i.e., Trello, VersionOne, JIRA, Asana) is a plus
·        Experience with email campaign/communication journey management, PPC/Google Ads, affiliate marketing, Amazon promotion, store management, and social media promotion is a plus
·        Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS for websites and email is a plus
·        Understanding of SEO best practices is a plus
