Accounts Payable Assistant

ACCOUNTS PAYABLE ASSISTANT
 
An Accounts Payable Assistant at National Design Mart is responsible for maintaining the regular accounting duties for payables within an organization. The main responsibilities of an Accounts Payable Assistant include acquiring and processing invoices, assisting in the reconciliation of accounts, and paying or receiving payment from vendors and customers. 
 
Responsibilities
 

  • Completing payments and controlling expenses by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices
  • Maintaining historical records of all invoices, reports and receipts by saving documents properly on the network
  • Reconciling processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances
  • Ensuring outstanding balances are updated with credit memos that are due
  • Maintains accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions
  • Verifying vendor accounts by reconciling statements and related transactions
  • Review and set up relationships with current and new vendors
  • Address and respond to vendor inquiries
  • Work collaboratively with various departments to problem solve
  • Perform data entry associated with Accounts Payable
 
Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
  • Previous accounts payable experience preferred
  • Proficient Microsoft Office knowledge and skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles
  • High degree of attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
  • Strong analytic abilities
 
Physical Aspects

  • Standing and/or walking for up to 4 hours consistently
  • Ability to operate computer programs
  • Lifting up to 25 lbs
  • Working in a retail store environment.
