Direct Dimensional Inspector

What You’ll Do
In this role, you will regularly perform inspections using hand gages, optical comparators, granite surface plates, and borescopes in all shop areas and within Material Services. Additionally, you will:
 
  • Locate and move nonconforming materials and product with the use of jib cranes, hand trucks, fork trucks, and other lifting/moving equipment when required
  • Clean and remove minor burs or upset metal as required to facilitate inspection
  • Assist Front Line Managers in ensuring inspections are ready to work, including collaboratively working with engineers and management at all levels to resolve administrative, scheduling, and tooling issues
  • Work with Test Examiners to develop inspection methods to suit unique conditions and to train new employees when necessary
  • Identify, tag, and accept or reject parts
  • Make sketches and complete reports of inspection forms
  • Interpret prints, sketches, and printed material descriptions of any complexity
  • Verify completeness of shop and inspection operations and non-destructive tests when required

What We Need from You
To be successful in this role, candidates must possess the skills necessary to safely and effectively complete required tasks. This includes, at a minimum:
 
  • A high school diploma or equivalency
  • Ability to demonstrate proper use of various manual precision measuring tools
  • Ability to perform advanced mathematical calculations
  • Ability to operate mobile lifts, lift trucks/tow motors, electric trucks, hand trucks, and pallet movers
  • Ability to work above and below floor level; must be able to climb
  • Ability to work from verbal and written instructions, such as prints, process sheets, sketches, and bills of materials
  • Ability to work any shift
  • Ability to adhere to strict PPE and safety requirements
  • Ability to pass written exams during qualification period; ability to obtain and maintain qualifications necessary to perform assigned duties
  • Ability to pass all pre-employment processes, to include a background check, pre-employment physical and drug screen, verification of education and work history, and reference checks
  • Due to our work with the US government, US citizenship with no dual citizenship is also required for this position
