Housekeeper/Laundry Aide

Laundry/Housekeeping Aides should be committed to learning and complying with OSHA standards for nursing homes. As a Laundry/Housekeeping Aide you must be able to perform the following essential functions as demonstrated by the ability to:

(LAUNDRY SPECIFIC DUTIES)

· Maintain a steady work pace to produce an adequate supply of clean garments and linens.

· Place garments and linens in drum of electrically powered washer.

· Identify and report any malfunctions in laundry equipment.

· Prevent the spread of infection through proper handling, storage, washing and transporting of all garments and linens.

· Add soap and other solutions to laundry.

· Operate an automated laundry solution dispensing system.

· Hang, fold and stack garments and linens.

· Report any garments or linens in ill repair to supervisor.

· Distribute clothes to residents’ rooms.

· Observe infection control procedures as they pertain to the Laundry Department.

· Clean and maintain the laundry room in an orderly fashion.

(HOUSEKEEPING SPECIFIC DUTIES)

· Complete daily cleaning schedule in accordance with facility policy.

· Follow and perform infection control procedures.

· Ensure all safety measures are used when housekeeping duties are being performed (e.g. Wet floor signs, chemicals are secured and labeled, etc.)

· Observe infection control procedures related to the housekeeping department.

· Job Types: Part-time/Full-time

· High school diploma or GED preferred – additional training in long term care preferred

· Ability to read, speak and understand English

· Ability to follow oral and written instructions
