$1,000 Sign On BONUS - FT 3rd Shift Childcare Specialist

SUMMARY: Assist in caring for a group of at risk, special needs children, ages 6-18, under assigned supervision of the CRC Third Shift Supervisor and leadership of CRC Third Shift Leader. Night Shift staff focus in addition to caring for resident children on deep cleaning in the cottages, and ensuring a safe and healthy environment for staff and residents. All Agency staff are expected to focus on Quality improvement as a part of their job responsibilities, in an effort to make the Agency a safe and healing environment for clients and staff. This expectation includes, but is not limited to: teamwork, improving service delivery, fulfilling department goals, and other job-specific tasks that encourage excellence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: It is the responsibility of each employee to be a consistent witness for Jesus Christ and to adhere to the Standard of Moral Conduct and Statement of Faith. Job-specific essential functions include the following:
  • Makes every effort to maintain a 'team first' spirit and atmosphere within the workplace environment fostering and maintaining appropriate working relationships within the Children's Residential Center team, and with other Agency departments, as well.
  • Complete tasks as assigned by Third Shift Supervisor and/or Third Shift Leader.
  • Be responsible for monitoring residents during the night to provide protection from harm from outsiders, each other, fire, severe weather, or other physical dangers. Ensure that there is no smoking, lighting of candles/open flames, nor any hazardous electrical devices that could start a fire. Ensure appropriate behaviors by preventing AWOL, horseplay, sexual misconduct and other problem behaviors. Intervention according to our agency policies and procedures. Turn in maintenance requests as needed.
  • Visually monitor youth every hour, including individual bed checks; 15 minute, 30 minute or sleep log checks. Complete checks as quietly as possible to ensure residents get uninterrupted sleep. Complete electronic documentation, as well as any other accompanying logs or paperwork. Make notes of any disturbances during the night or any special circumstances regarding the residents.
  • Deep clean the cottage each evening according to specific assigned by shift plan. This includes mopping, vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms, cleaning kitchens, taking inventory, organizing office space, cleaning couches, washing and folding laundry, and disinfecting.
  • Wake residents in the morning. Ensure that each child's morning routine goes smoothly including, but not limited to, showers, chores, cooking and serving breakfast, and walking the students to class. Administer any medications, as necessary, upon approval from Third Shift Supervisor or Leader. Communicate with Day Treatment Specialist any special circumstances or events that occurred during the night. When arriving on shift, check with Day Treatment Specialist to be aware of any special needs of the residents.
  • Follow daily routine/schedule. Collaborate with clinical team to incorporate individual interventions and treatment plans. Use appropriate techniques including, but not limited to, providing close supervision, and following Safe Crisis Management (SCM) guidelines for de-escalation and Emergency Safety Physical Interventions (ESPI's). Participates in the development and implementation of treatment plans and program expectations.
  • Complete all tasks on (attached) Shift Plan, as required.
  • Ensure dining room and intake area in extra cottage are cleaned regularly.
Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None. (Direct and regular supervision of Third Shift Treatment Specialists will be done by Third Shift Supervisor. The Third Shift Leader will act as a liaison between Third Shift Treatment Specialists and Third Shift Supervisor, as necessary.)
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be age 21. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months' related experience and/or training strongly preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITIES: Ability to apply common sense, understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have ability to use a computer, familiarity with Outlook and Word.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid Ohio Driver's Licenses and maintains a driving record that allows that individual to be insurable with the insurance company.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Ability to maintain compliance/certification with CCHO's requirements for using physical restraints (SCM: Safe Crisis Management) including sufficient strength and completion of extensive training. Physical ability to respond to crisis, including, but not limited to: running and performing physical restraints.
WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise in the environment is varied, often loud and chaotic.
