Animal Care Technician/Cagewash Attendant

Students will be provided appropriate training in accordance with a schedule established with the UARV Manager prior to performing these duties:

 

1.   Provide care to animals, observe, and report changes in the health status or condition of animals to the UARV Manager or Research Technician.

2.   Receive animals from approved vendors and exporting institutions into the appropriate caging and provide accurate animal identification.

3.   Feed and water animals.

4.   With the direction of the UARV Manager, provide care and housing in accordance with active IACUC protocols.

5.   Perform general recordkeeping for work duties and maintain cleanliness and sanitation of animal cages and facility.

6.   Operate cage washing equipment and other types of cleaning and sanitizing equipment.

7.   Under the direction of the UARV Manager, students may collect biological specimens from animals.

8.   Performs other duties as assigned by the UARV Manager or Research Technician.
