Math and Statistics Tutors | The University of Akron Department of Athletics

Seeking applicants for part-time math and/or statistics tutors to provide additional clarification and reinforcement of material presented in class or via online instruction. In addition, teach new skills and strategies to use in class and effectively learn material. The role of the tutor is to assist students in becoming proficient in the specified academic course(s). Tutors will be assigned specific students and subjects and will meet on a weekly basis. Occasionally, a tutor may be asked to meet with a student for a one-time appointment or upon request.

Qualifications:

· Thorough knowledge of subject matter and ability to explain concepts

· Must be responsible and professional, and have excellent communication skills

· Previous experience in teaching or tutoring preferred

Responsibilities:

· Assist staff members and Academic Learning Assistants with students

· Collaborate with other tutors

· Complete daily reports and document attendance

· Complete weekly reports and collaborate with Tutoring Coordinator

· Assist with test preparation, reviewing, content remediation

· Provide group and individualized tutoring sessions

· Other duties as assigned by Academic Support Staff
