Corrections Officer

Monitors and observes the daily activities of inmates (e.g., meals, sleeping, bathing, recreation, work, visitation, etc.) and distributes meals, medication, personal, and other items to inmates.

Patrols cell blocks on scheduled and impromptu basis in order to ensure the security, health, and welfare of

inmates (e.g., conducts head counts; checks lights, locks and control panels; inspects inmates= personal effects; etc.).

Communicates with inmates during the booking process in order to obtain information and enter into computerized system; assists with the performance of other intake activities (e.g., takes fingerprints and photographs; conducts searches; secures inmates= personal belongings; etc.).

Prepares and maintains records and reports related to inmate health, booking, incidents, etc.

Receives and responds to inquiries and requests from government agencies, courts, the general public, and others.

Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.

Maintains required licensure and certification.
