Position Summary

The Business Intelligence Intern will learn to design and test Microsoft BI tools, assist Business Analysts in gathering requirements and creating task lists, and use Azure DevOps for project management. The intern will also communicate with team members and stakeholders and demonstrate dashboards, reports, and other deliverables. Good communication and presentation skills are essential.

Duties and Accountabilities1

• Design, develop, implement, and maintain business intelligence using Microsoft BI technologies
• Understand and implement data modeling using best practices and star schema design
• Analyze complex data from multiple sources including SQL Server databases and Analysis Services Tabular models
• Collaborate with Business Analysts and subject matter experts to gather requirements and provide technical expertise
• Distil complex business concepts and data into readily understood information and visualizations for key stakeholders to drive their business performance
• Develop relationships with our internal functional groups, to improve the quality and availability of high-value data
• Work in collaboration with Data and Analytics Governance members to improve our data structure
• Stay up to date on emerging technologies and make recommendations where applicable 
   

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technology or engineering field, or equivalent combination of experience
• Intermediate experience with Microsoft Power BI including data modeling, ETL, and authoring DAX for querying and calculations
• Knowledge of Power BI, Power Query, DAX, SQL, and best practices in data visualization
• Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) concepts and agile methodology
• Comfortable working with colleagues at all levels within the firm; strong interpersonal skills
• Flexible self-starter comfortable with tackling new projects independently while also being able to take direction from senior staff
• Ability to clearly explain both business and technical BI concepts; superior communication and presentation skills
• Ability to quickly learn new software and technologies
• Ability to work independently in a team environment, effectively manage time and tight deadlines; able to multitask

Location and Reporting

• This is a hybrid in-office/remote role based in our Tampa office.
