Marketing & Content Intern

Overview:We are seeking a creative and organized Marketing & Content Intern to help tell Cherokee County’s story. You’ll work alongside the Tahlequah Area Chamber of Commerce tourism team on social media, short-form video, website and blog content, and visitor-focused campaigns, gaining hands-on experience in destination marketing.

This internship is a great fit for someone who enjoys photography, video, and writing, keeps up with social media trends, and wants real-world experience creating content for a tourism organization.

Key Responsibilities:Social Media & Digital MarketingAssist with creating and scheduling social media content for Facebook, Instagram, and TikTokCapture and edit photo and short-form video content featuring local attractions, events, businesses, and visitor experiencesHelp develop Reels, TikToks, Stories, and other engaging content based on current social media trendsSupport the creation of digital graphics and promotional materials using Canva and/or Adobe Creative SuiteContent & Website ManagementAssist with researching and developing content ideas that support tourism campaigns and target audiencesWrite and edit short-form website and blog content, including destination highlights, itineraries, and visitor-focused storiesAssist with website updates, including adding events, updating destination information, and maintaining content accuracySupport photo and video asset organization and maintain an organized library of marketing materialsAnalytics & ReportingAssist with monitoring social media engagement, trends, and performanceCompile basic monthly metricsVisitor Experience & CommunicationsHelp develop visitor itineraries, trip ideas, and promotional content showcasing Cherokee CountyAssist with tourism events, partner communications, visitor inquiries, and occasional community outreachAdministrative SupportAttend team meetings and assist with meeting notes, research, and other marketing projects as needed

What We’re Looking For:The ideal intern is curious, creative, and dependable – someone who enjoys capturing and sharing local stories, is comfortable on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, and can follow a project from idea to finished post. You should be comfortable switching between creative work like photography, video, and writing and detail-oriented tasks like website updates, monthly metrics, and keeping files organized.
