About the role
We’re looking for a curious, analytical data analyst with strong Python and SQL skills and a solid understanding of machine learning and modern AI. You’ll work with large datasets, answer business questions with data, and help find ways AI can improve analytics work.

What you’ll do

  • Write SQL to pull, join, and analyze data to find trends, rankings, and anomalies
  • Clean, transform, and analyze datasets using Python (Pandas)
  • Apply basic statistical and machine learning methods, and explain when they fit and when they don’t
  • Explore practical uses of LLMs, RAG, and AI agents in analytics workflows
  • Present findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Experience
3+ years of professional experience in data analysis, data engineering, or software development, including work before or during graduate school. Current Master’s students and recent graduates with prior industry experience are encouraged to apply.

What you bring

Python and data manipulation

  • Working with Pandas: reading, cleaning, and manipulating datasets
  • Core data structures: lists, tuples, dictionaries, and sets
  • Loops, conditions, functions, calculations, and data transformations

SQL

  • JOINs, CTEs, and aggregations
  • Window functions such as RANK(), DENSE_RANK(), LAG(), and LEAD()
  • Writing SQL to identify trends and rankings

Machine learning and statistics

  • Regression and classification; supervised vs. unsupervised learning
  • Training and testing data, overfitting, and model evaluation basics
  • Correlation, mean, median, standard deviation, and distributions

Advanced ML coding is not required, but you should understand these concepts and be able to explain where they apply.

Modern AI concepts

  • Large Language Models (LLMs), prompting, and hallucination
  • Embeddings and vector databases
  • Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and AI agents
  • Most importantly: ideas on how AI can be used in data analytics

Communication
You should be able to explain your projects clearly and concisely:

  • What problem were you solving?
  • What data did you use?
  • What did you personally build?
  • Which technologies did you use?
  • What was the result?

Ideal background

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Master’s in Computer Science, Data Science, Analytics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field
  • Prior full-time industry experience using Python and SQL on real business data
  • Portfolio or GitHub projects are a plus

Interview process

  1. Short recruiter screen
  2. Technical interview with a brief hands-on Python and SQL exercise
