Assistant Director of Public Utilities

The City of Fredericksburg is seeking a qualified professional to help manage the water distribution and sanitary sewer conveyance and treatment systems in our Department of Public Utilities.  As the Assistant Director of Public Utilities, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the essential operations of our city’s Utilities Department through:
 

Strategic and Operational Planning

• Guiding department operations and collaborating on development of departmental goals and objectives.
• Important initiatives will include management and oversight of utility maintenance, as well as system renovations and replacements over the next several years.

Budget and Project Planning

• Assist in the development and monitoring of department operational budgets and capital improvement projects. 
• Serve on the project team for the City’s ongoing renovation of the Wastewater Treatment Plant project

Supervision and Compliance

Oversight of the Utilities Department’s daily operations and - ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.

Reporting

• Preparing and collaborating on reports submitted to various regulatory agencies.
• Presenting to City Council and other groups regarding department operations and projects.
