AI Solutions Analyst

About us

Nathel & Nathel is a family-owned, four-generation fresh produce wholesaler at the Hunts Point Terminal Market. We move a lot of product every night across sales, buying, warehouse, QC, trucking, and the back office. We already use systems like Produce Pro and are building more modern tools. We want someone early in their career who can find where AI and automation actually help, then build and roll them out with the people who do the work.

What you'll do

• Walk the business: spend time with sales, buyers, warehouse, QC, AR/AP, and ops to see how work really gets done.

• Spot opportunities: find repeatable, high-friction tasks (data entry, lookups, scheduling, reporting, document handling, customer and vendor communication) where AI or light software can save time or cut mistakes.

• Build what we need: write practical software and automations (scripts, internal tools, integrations, AI assistants) that stick, not demos that die in a slide deck.

• Implement with people: train teammates, write simple how-tos, gather feedback, and iterate until the tool is used on the floor and in the office.

• Partner with Technology: work with our IT/systems owners so anything you ship is secure, maintainable, and fits our stack.

• Measure impact: track what changed (hours saved, errors reduced, adoption) and prioritize the next project with leadership.

What we're looking for

• Recent graduate or early-career (0–3 years), or graduating soon, with a degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, business analytics, or a related field — or equivalent project experience.

• Can write working software (any modern language is fine; Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, or similar preferred). Portfolio, GitHub, school projects, or internships beat buzzwords.

• Comfortable with AI tools (ChatGPT/Claude-style assistants, APIs, automation platforms) and curious about where they do and don't belong in a real business.

• Strong communicator: you like talking to people, asking good questions, and explaining technical ideas in plain English. This is not a "headphones on all day" coding seat.

• Practical and hands-on: willing to work onsite in an active wholesale market environment and learn how produce wholesale actually runs.

• A plus: internship or project work in ops, supply chain, logistics, wholesale, food, or back-office process improvement; Spanish/English bilingual; experience shipping something people actually used.

What this is not

• Not a pure research or "AI strategy only" role.

• Not a remote-only software engineer role with no stakeholder contact.

• Not a job where you wait for perfect specs — you'll help define the problem.

Schedule and location

Full-time, onsite at Hunts Point Terminal Market, Bronx, NY. Standard daytime office hours with occasional early or evening time when a project needs floor or overnight-ops input. Exact schedule set at hire.

Work authorization: You must be legally authorized to work in the United States. This position does not offer visa sponsorship, now or in the future. In your application, please confirm (1) you are authorized to work in the U.S. and (2) you will not require sponsorship.

How to apply

Apply through Handshake with your resume. REQUIRED: a link to a project, GitHub profile/repo, or portfolio that shows software you built. Applications without a working link will not be reviewed. In a few sentences, tell us about one project (school, internship, or personal) where you built something someone else used, and what problem it solved.

Interview process: shortlisted applicants receive a short recorded video interview as the first round. If you need an accommodation for the video interview, email HR@nnproduce.com.
