Software Engineer
Software Engineer — Business Systems & AI Automation
AMP Aero Services | Full-Time
Build software that changes how an aviation business operates.
AMP Aero Services buys, repairs, manages, and sells commercial aircraft and engine material to airlines, maintenance providers, lessors, and aviation companies around the world.
Behind every transaction are decisions about inventory, pricing, repair costs, documentation, customer demand, and where to invest our capital. Better software helps our team make those decisions faster and with better information.
We’re looking for a curious, resourceful Software Engineer who wants to understand those problems and build solutions people use every day.
You’ll work directly with leadership and the people running the business. You’ll turn operational challenges into applications, connect systems and data, automate repetitive work, and help AMP put modern AI tools into practical use.
If you notice a process that takes ten steps and immediately start thinking about how to make it take two, you’ll probably enjoy working here.
What You Will Do
Build applications people rely on
Develop and improve internal tools and web applications that support quoting, purchasing, inventory, repair management, reporting, and other business workflows.
Own work from understanding the problem through implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing improvement.
Connect our systems and data
Work with relational databases, including Oracle SQL, to query, organize, and validate business data. Build APIs, integrations, and data pipelines that keep information moving accurately between systems.
Investigate slow queries, inconsistent records, and recurring data problems—and address their underlying causes.
Turn manual work into useful automation
Spend time with the people doing the work. Understand where they lose time, repeat steps, or struggle to find information.
Build solutions that reduce unnecessary effort, improve accuracy, and make the next decision easier.
Put AI to work
Develop practical workflows using LLM APIs, structured outputs, document extraction, and agents that interact with business systems.
Evaluate whether an approach produces reliable results, handle exceptions, and build appropriate review steps into workflows where accuracy matters.
Bring engineering judgment
Write maintainable code, use version control, review changes, and test the behavior that matters. Consider security, permissions, error handling, and monitoring as part of delivering a working solution.
Make thoughtful decisions about when to build, when to integrate an existing tool, and when a simpler approach will solve the problem.
Work directly with the business
Translate open-ended requests into clear requirements. Explain technical choices in plain language, raise issues early, and help prioritize work based on its value to AMP.
We want someone who can ask good questions, recommend an approach, and follow through.
Who We Are Looking For
You have a solid foundation in software development and examples of things you have built.
Those examples might come from professional work, internships, coursework, open-source contributions, or personal projects. We care about your ability to understand a problem, make sound decisions, and deliver working software.
You should bring:
Strong programming ability in JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or another language, with a willingness to learn the tools our systems require.
Experience building web applications, backend services, or substantial automation tools.
A working understanding of SQL, relational databases, joins, data modeling, and data integrity.
Experience using APIs and handling authentication, failures, and unexpected responses.
Familiarity with Git and the fundamentals of testing, debugging, and deployment.
Clear communication and the ability to work with colleagues who have different levels of technical knowledge.
Initiative, attention to detail, and the discipline to finish work and support it after launch.
A degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field is welcome. Equivalent practical experience and a strong portfolio are also valuable.
AI & Automation at AMP
AMP is actively exploring how AI can improve inventory analysis, pricing, purchasing, reporting, repair management, and document processing.
For this role, we’re especially interested in candidates who have experimented with:
LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar platforms.
Tool calling, agent workflows, and structured outputs.
Extracting and validating information from business documents.
Connecting AI models to databases, APIs, and internal applications.
Evaluating output quality and building workflows that handle uncertainty.
You don’t need to have trained your own machine-learning model. You should be interested in understanding how these tools work and able to explain the strengths and limitations of something you have built.
Helpful Experience
React, Next.js, or similar web frameworks.
Oracle SQL and query optimization.
Microsoft Azure or another cloud platform.
ERP integrations, ETL processes, and data synchronization.
Workflow automation platforms such as n8n or Power Automate.
Software supporting inventory, quoting, purchasing, logistics, or financial operations.
Previous aviation experience is welcome, but it isn’t required. We can teach you our industry and business processes.
What Success Looks Like
Within your first year, our goal is for you to understand AMP’s core workflows, take ownership of useful applications and integrations, and deliver improvements our team can measure.
That might mean reducing the time needed to prepare a quote, eliminating duplicate data entry, making repair status easier to track, or helping our team use inventory information more effectively.
Success means the software works, people use it, and the business operates better because of it.

How to Stand Out
Along with your resume, tell us about one application, integration, or automation you built that you’re proud of.
What problem were you solving? What did you build yourself? What was the hardest part? What changed because of your work?
Include a GitHub repository, demo, screenshots, or a short explanation if you can. If the work is confidential, a description is enough.
We’re especially interested in projects that show initiative, sound engineering judgment, and an ability to turn an idea into something useful.
