IT Support Specialist + Junior Software Developer

Junior IT Support & Systems Developer

Location: St Louis, MO

Employment Type: Full-Time

About Us

We are a rapidly growing multi-location supermarket group operating large-format grocery stores across the region. As we scale, our technology needs are expanding. We are looking for an adaptable Junior IT Support & Systems Developer to build custom software tools, automate business processes, and support day-to-day store technology infrastructure.

Recent graduates with solid coding fundamentals and an interest in systems support are strongly encouraged to apply.

The Role

In this hybrid support-and-development role, you will split time between developing internal applications and providing hands-on IT support. You will gain direct experience designing custom software tools (dashboards, scripts, data pipelines), troubleshooting retail hardware and store networks, and directly improving operational efficiency across all store locations.

Key Responsibilities

Software & Application Development:

Design, build, and maintain lightweight internal software tools, web apps, and dashboards to support store operations and headquarters workflows.

Write clean, maintainable scripts (Python, JavaScript/Node.js, or SQL) to automate data synchronization, report generation, and routine IT tasks.

Integrate internal tools with third-party software, databases, and vendor APIs (POS systems, inventory databases).

Document code, maintain version control (e.g., GitHub/GitLab), and test applications prior to store deployment.

Store & Office IT Support: Provide Tier 1/Tier 2 technical support for workstations, POS systems, network receipt/label printers, barcode scanners, and peripheral hardware.

Systems & Account Administration: Provision new devices, configure operating systems, and manage user accounts and access permissions across Google Workspace / Microsoft 365

Network & Hardware Maintenance: Assist in monitoring and configuring network hardware (switches, subnets, routers, Wi-Fi access points) and maintain accurate hardware inventory.

Vendor Coordination & New Store Openings: Collaborate with third-party software/POS vendors on escalations and assist in staging and deploying IT infrastructure for new store locations.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (recent graduates welcome).

Coding Skills: Practical, hands-on programming experience in at least one modern language (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Java, C#) with the ability to build functional applications or scripts.

Technical Fundamentals: Understanding of relational databases/SQL, basic REST APIs, and fundamental networking concepts (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, subnets).

Problem-Solving & Communication: Strong debugging skills, practical mindset, and clear communication with both technical and non-technical staff.

Logistics: Valid driver’s license and willingness to occasionally travel to regional store locations for setup and support.

What We Offer

Direct Development Impact: Build tools and applications that solve real business problems and are used daily across multiple large stores.

Clear Career Progression: Natural pathway into Full-Stack Software Engineering, DevOps, or Systems Administration.

Breadth of Experience: Exposure to both software development and real-world enterprise infrastructure/networking.

Comprehensive Benefits: H1B sponsorship; Competitive salary, paid time off, health coverage, and employee discounts
