Cost Analyst

SUMMARY:

As the Cost Analyst on our Finance Team, you will play a crucial role with an emphasis on margin analysis & cost accounting. You will be responsible for analyzing and managing product and project costs to ensure accurate pricing, profitability, and cost control. This role develops cost estimates, analyzes cost variances and trends, identifies cost-reduction opportunities, and partners with cross-functional teams to support informed pricing and business decisions.

 

You will be expected to be detailed oriented, knowledgeable on statistics, have strong problem-solving skills, and work comfortably under pressure. Additionally, you will be expected to showcase your presentation and report-writing skills.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Maintain accurate system pricing for products, models, and options.
  • Analyze product and project costs, including material, labor, and other cost drivers, to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Develop and maintain cost estimates for new and existing products, models, options, and projects to support pricing and profitability decisions.
  • Compare estimated costs to actual production costs, investigate variances, and identify the root causes of cost changes.
  • Evaluate the impact of changes in material and labor costs on product pricing, margins, and overall profitability.
  • Identify waste, inefficiencies, and other opportunities to improve manufacturing costs and profitability.
  • Prepare detailed cost analysis and management reports that summarize cost drivers, pricing impacts, profitability, and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate costs, support pricing decisions, and evaluate the financial impact of products and projects.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records of cost analyses, assumptions, findings, and recommendations.
  • Conduct or assist with audits of current and historical projects to validate costs and identify discrepancies or improvement opportunities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or a related field
  • 3+ years of Cost Accounting experience
  • 5+ years of accounting-related experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Sound understanding of accounting principles
  • Solid cost systems background
