Social Media & Marketing Intern — Paid

The Cut Gallery Barbershop | Exton, PA
Part-Time | Approximately 8 Hours/Week
Pay: $18–$22/hour, based on experience
Hybrid: Weekly in-person content session + flexible remote work

About The Cut Gallery

The Cut Gallery is a locally owned barbershop and rotating art gallery located in Eagleview Town Center in Exton, PA. We combine barbering, art, community, and creativity to create an experience that feels different from a traditional barbershop.

Our space features local artists, a creative team of barbers, events, and plenty of opportunities for original social media content.

The owner is a West Chester University alum (Class of 2016), and we're looking for a current WCU student who wants hands-on experience helping grow a local brand while building their own marketing portfolio.

The Role

We're looking for a creative, social-media-savvy student to help take ownership of The Cut Gallery's social media presence.

This isn't an internship where you'll spend your time doing busywork. You'll have the opportunity to create real content, test your ideas, follow performance, and see how your work directly impacts a small business.

You'll work approximately 8 hours per week, including one weekly visit to the shop to batch-create content. Editing, planning, scheduling, and other work can primarily be completed remotely.

What You'll Do

Film short-form content for Instagram Reels and TikTok

Edit videos using CapCut, Canva, or similar platforms

Photograph haircuts, barbers, artwork, products, and the shop

Help create and maintain a monthly content calendar

Write captions and help schedule social posts

Brainstorm creative campaigns and content ideas

Create content highlighting our rotating featured artists

Promote shop events, services, team members, and community involvement

Follow social media trends and identify ones that fit our brand

Review basic analytics to see what's working and adjust future content

Bring your own ideas to the table — we want someone who wants to create, not just follow instructions

Who We're Looking For

You don't need years of professional experience.

We're looking for someone who:

Is currently enrolled at West Chester University

Has a strong understanding of Instagram and TikTok

Enjoys creating and editing short-form video

Has a good eye for aesthetics and branding

Is comfortable approaching people and filming in an active barbershop

Is dependable and able to manage their own time

Can take an idea and run with it

Is interested in marketing, social media, content creation, communications, branding, or a related field

Experience with Canva, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, photography, or social media management tools is a plus but not required.

Schedule

Approximately 8 hours per week.

We'd like the student to spend approximately 3 hours in person at The Cut Gallery each week capturing and creating content. The remaining hours can generally be completed remotely and scheduled around classes.

Compensation

$18–$22/hour depending on experience and portfolio.

This is a paid position.

Why Join Us?

You'll have significant creative freedom and the chance to build work you can actually put in your portfolio.

Rather than creating mock campaigns for class, you'll be able to create content for a real business, experiment with different strategies, review the results, and help shape the voice of a growing local brand.

You'll also have opportunities to work with local artists, events, small-business marketing, and a team with plenty of personality and content potential.

To Apply

Please send:

A short introduction about yourself

Your major and year at WCU

Any examples of social media, video, photography, design, or marketing work you've created

A formal portfolio is not required. Personal TikToks, Instagram content, class projects, Canva designs, photography, or other examples of your creativity are welcome.

We're much more interested in seeing your creativity and personality than receiving a perfect résumé.
