The University of Texas/Texas A&M Investment Management Company (UTIMCO) is a 501(c)(3) investment management corporation whose sole purpose is to manage the investment assets under the fiduciary care of the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System. Created in March 1996, UTIMCO is the first external investment corporation formed by a public university system. UTIMCO invests in broadly diversified portfolios of equity, fixed income and real assets across global markets using a long-term investment horizon while focusing on a number of different investment categories characterized by complex, illiquid, and mispriced securities where proprietary information and sophisticated investment strategies offer the opportunity for value-added returns. These investments include hedge funds and private investments, including venture capital, buy-out, growth, real estate, and infrastructure-related opportunities. UTIMCO offers unique exposure to a variety of asset classes and unparalleled interaction with many of the world’s best money managers.

As an intern on the Operational Due Diligence (ODD) team at UTIMCO, you will assist in the initial and ongoing due diligence of alternative investment managers across multiple asset classes, including hedge funds, domestic and international public equities, private equity, venture capital, real estate, and infrastructure. Throughout the summer, there will be countless professional and personal development opportunities which have included: giving and receiving feedback, Excel, Bloomberg, working closely with experienced investment professionals, and leadership lessons with our CEO/CIO. Interns will have the chance to network throughout the summer and pursue ad hoc projects and shadowing opportunities that may be of interest.

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with ODD and investment team members on external manager reviews
  • Strengthen the relationship between ODD and existing investment managers on the UTIMCO platform
  • Assist in managing post diligence data and materials from investment managers
  • Assist in ongoing investment manager reviews
  • Participate in external manager meetings
  • Preparation of internal memos for review and eventual investment committee submission
  • Capture of relevant information into various UTIMCO systems for firmwide use
  • Communicate with UTIMCO Operations and Investment teams on ODD related items
  • Completion of various ad hoc and scheduled projects

Requirements:

  • Completion of Sophomore year or equivalent credit load
  • Studying in the areas of finance, accounting, business administrator, economics, or other related fields
  • A strong interest in the investment industry and intellectual curiosity about the operational, accounting, compliance, and technology issues faced by asset managers
  • Elevated attention to detail as well as strong verbal/written communications skills and presence to communicate effectively with senior levels of management both internally and externally
  • A collegial team player possessing intellectual curiosity, sound judgment, and thoughtfulness
  • Constructive, “can do” attitude committed to consistently doing what is in the best interest of the organization
  • Unquestioned honesty, integrity, and transparency
  • Cultural fit is a must in a respectful, collegial, and open working environment
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. for the duration of the internship

Our ODD Internship Program runs June 1, 2027 thru July 30, 2027. This full-time internship role and requires in-office, 4 days a week.
