Ice Center Supervisor- Provisional (Ice Center)
SUNY Broome Community College is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Ice Center Supervisor. Reporting to the Ice Center Operations Manager, this position works closely with campus departments, vendors, and community organizations to ensure a safe, efficient, and positive experience for facility users.
This appointment is provisional pending satisfactory completion of the Civil Service testing requirement.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinate and support ice rink schedules, programs, rentals, leagues, lessons, public skating, and special events.
- Assist with event planning and logistics, including staffing, equipment, setup and teardown, vendor access, and facility layouts.
- Serve as a point of contact for events and respond to inquiries from skaters, teams, coaches, vendors, and community partners.
- Assist with scheduling, training, and supervision of Ice Center staff and student workers.
- Monitor ice quality and coordinate resurfacing schedules to maintain a clean, safe, and operational facility.
- Operate the Zamboni and other Ice Center equipment as needed.
- Perform opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and securing the facility.
- Assist with maintaining registration and scheduling records, tracking attendance, and preparing reports.
- Assist with risk management and incident reporting and ensure compliance with safety standards, emergency procedures, campus policies, and OSHA requirements.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of ice rink experience in a leadership role; or
- Associate's degree and three (3) years of ice rink experience in a leadership role; or
- High school diploma or equivalency and five (5) years of ice rink experience in a leadership role.
- Knowledge of ice rink operations, safety practices, and refrigeration systems.
- Strong organizational, customer service, communication, and supervisory skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, facility users, vendors, and community partners.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, work in cold environments, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends.
- Possession of a valid appropriate level Motor Vehicle Operator's license.

Additional Information:
The hourly rate for this position is $23.27.
Offers of employment will be conditional based upon the results of a satisfactory, required pre-employment Standard Background Check.
