Development & Special Events Intern

The Development & Special Events Intern will support fundraising, donor engagement, and special events while gaining hands-on experience in nonprofit development and community engagement. This internship is ideal for a student interested in event planning, communications, fundraising, marketing, or nonprofit management.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Event Planning: Assist with planning and coordinating fundraising events, community programs, and donor engagement activities, including event logistics, registration, guest lists, and day-of support.
  • Communications: Draft and edit event invitations, donor communications, sponsorship outreach, thank-you messages, and other promotional materials.
  • Vendor Support: Communicate with venues, caterers, photographers, designers, and other event vendors; assist with tracking deadlines, deliverables, and event logistics.
  • Donor & Sponsor Research: Research prospective corporate sponsors, foundations, and individual donors and help identify potential funding and partnership opportunities.
  • Administrative Support & Data Entry: Assist with maintaining donor and sponsorship records, preparing outreach materials, tracking responses, and supporting donor stewardship activities.
  • Special Projects: Provide general support for fundraising campaigns, community outreach, and other development initiatives as needed.


 

Ideal Candidate

A strong candidate will be organized, dependable, and comfortable communicating with a variety of stakeholders. Strong writing, research, and organizational skills are preferred. 

Experience with event planning or fundraising is not required; an interest in learning about nonprofit development, events, and community engagement is most important.
