Marketing and Events Intern - Summer 2027

Job SummaryThe Marketing & Events Intern will support marketing, donor relations, and event coordination for a fundraising event. This role offers hands-on experience in nonprofit marketing, donor relations, event planning and community engagement.

Duties/ResponsibilitiesMarketing & Communications

Assist with developing and scheduling content for social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and ViewSpark..Support the development and execution of marketing campaigns to increase awareness, engagement, and community participation.Draft and edit social media posts, e-newsletters, website content, and promotional materials.Help collect stories, photos, testimonials, and other content that demonstrate the organization's impact.Monitor social media engagement and assist with tracking basic marketing metrics.Donor Relations

Make phone calls and send letters to invite donors to the event.Assist with post-event follow-up, including thank-you communications, surveys, and reporting.Events

Assist with planning, promoting, and executing a fundraising event.Support event logistics, including invitations, registration, supplies, signage, schedules, and day-of coordination.Communicate with vendors, community partners, volunteers, and attendees as needed.Capture photos, videos, and social media content during events when appropriate.Administrative & Team Support

Maintain organized marketing and event files, calendars, and project timelines.Participate in team meetings and contribute creative ideas for increasing community awareness and engagement.Support other communications, outreach, and special projects as assigned.City Union Mission Requirements:

(1 Peter 2:21, 3:15)Have a desire to serve the Lord through widely varied responsibilities to advance ministry to those currently homeless, and the urban poor of Kansas City, with a compassionate heart.Agree to City Union Mission's Statement of Ministry:Be a genuine believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, as expressed by personal testimony and conduct.Be a member in good standing of a recognized protestant, evangelical church for one year or more.Have a genuine concern for the ministry of City Union Mission.Agree to abstain from alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, and tobacco while employed by City Union Mission.Have a lifestyle that is free of sexual sin as clearly defined in the Bible.
