Part-Time Marketing & Community Specialist

Position Overview

Wyant Insurance & Financial Services is looking for an energetic, outgoing, professional, and highly organized Part-time Marketing & Community Specialist to help grow our presence throughout Richmond and the surrounding community.

This is a great chance for local students to gain valuable business experience while in school or complete an internship requirement.

This is not a traditional desk-based marketing position. The ideal candidates will enjoy getting out into the community, meeting new people, building relationships, creating marketing opportunities, and generating leads and referrals for the agency.

The primary goal of this position is to build relationships that create opportunities for our agency. This person will develop relationships with local businesses, apartment communities, dealerships, real estate professionals, contractors, community organizations, and other centers of influence while also managing key digital marketing initiatives for the agency.

Key Responsibilities

Community Marketing & Lead Generation

  • Spend time in the Richmond community building relationships and generating quote opportunities.
  • Visit local businesses, apartment communities, car dealerships, real estate professionals, contractors, and other potential referral partners.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with centers of influence and passive lead sources that can consistently generate referrals and opportunities.
  • Identify new businesses, organizations, events, and community partnerships for the agency.
  • Follow up with community contacts and work to turn relationships into measurable leads, referrals, and quote opportunities.
  • Look for marketing opportunities during everyday interactions throughout the community.
  • Represent Wyant Insurance & Financial Services professionally at all times.
  • Track community marketing activity and the results generated from those efforts.

Events & Community Involvement

  • Research, design, plan, coordinate, and attend local events that provide opportunities to grow the agency's presence.
  • Identify opportunities for the agency to give back to and become more involved in the local community.
  • Coordinate with the sales team and delegate team members to attend community events and marketing activities when appropriate.
  • Capture photos and videos at events to use for social media and future marketing content.

Social Media & Content Creation

  • Manage and consistently post content across the agency's social media platforms.
  • Create engaging Reels and short-form videos that capture the personality, culture, community involvement, and fun atmosphere of the agency.
  • Take photos and videos while attending events and conducting community outreach.
  • Develop content that highlights team members, community partnerships, events, customers when appropriate, and the overall agency culture.
  • Maintain a consistent and professional brand across social media.

SEO & Digital Presence

  • Manage and improve the agency's local SEO efforts and online presence.
  • Keep the agency microsite accurate, current, and optimized.
  • Help manage online reviews and identify opportunities to strengthen the agency's digital reputation.
  • Monitor digital marketing efforts to understand what is generating traffic, engagement, leads, and quote opportunities.

Structured Marketing Schedule

This position will follow a clear, defined marketing schedule designed to ensure time is being spent intentionally and consistently.

The weekly schedule will include designated time for:

  • Field & Community Marketing
  • COI and Referral Partner Development
  • Social Media & Content Creation
  • SEO & Microsite Management
  • Event Planning & Community Involvement
  • Canva & Marketing Material Creation
  • Tracking, Reporting & Planning

There will be clear expectations around how much time should be spent out in the field versus working on social media, digital marketing, outreach, follow-up, and other responsibilities.

Tracking, Accountability & Sales Team Meetings

An important part of this position will be measuring what is actually working.

The Marketing & Community Outreach Specialist will track both marketing activity and marketing results, including items such as businesses visited, COIs contacted, LinkedIn outreach, events attended, leads generated, referrals received, quote opportunities created, social media activity, and other relevant results.

This person will regularly provide feedback during sales team meetings and help the team understand:

  • What marketing strategies are working
  • What isn't generating results
  • Where leads and quotes are coming from
  • Which relationships are producing referrals
  • Which events and community activities are worth continuing
  • What messaging or approaches are generating conversations
  • What needs to be changed or improved
  • Where the agency should focus its marketing efforts next

We are looking for someone who is comfortable testing new ideas, measuring the results, receiving feedback, and continuously improving the agency's marketing approach.

Success will not simply be measured by activity. Visiting 20 businesses or creating five social media posts only matters if those activities ultimately help create relationships, referrals, leads, quote opportunities, community awareness, and new business.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is professional, outgoing, dependable, creative, organized, flexible, and comfortable starting conversations with new people.

Because much of this position takes place outside of the office, this individual must also be self-motivated and capable of managing responsibilities independently while following the agency's established marketing plan.

The ideal candidate should be:

  • Timely and dependable, with excellent follow-through.
  • Highly organized and capable of managing multiple relationships, events, campaigns, schedules, and follow-up activities.
  • Outgoing and personable, with the confidence to walk into a local business, introduce themselves, and start building a relationship.
  • Professional when representing Wyant Insurance & Financial Services.
  • Comfortable using social media, LinkedIn, Canva, and digital marketing tools.
  • Creative and comfortable taking photos and producing short-form video/Reel content.
  • Comfortable working from a structured schedule and being accountable for measurable results.
  • Able to communicate what is and isn't working and recommend adjustments.
  • A team player who can coordinate with and help organize sales team members for events and community marketing activities.
  • Results-oriented and motivated by generating new relationships, leads, referrals, and quote opportunities.

Driving & Community Travel

This position requires frequent local travel throughout Richmond. The Marketing & Community Outreach Specialist will drive company-provided commercial/marketing vehicles while visiting businesses, attending events, and conducting community outreach.

The agency will provide the vehicle and cover fuel expenses associated with approved business activities. Candidates must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role isn't measured simply by how many social media posts are created, businesses are visited, or events are attended. We want someone who can turn consistent marketing activity into real relationships and measurable opportunities for the agency.

The right person will help Wyant Insurance & Financial Services become even more visible and connected throughout the Charlottesville community while consistently generating new relationships, leads, referrals, quote opportunities, community partnerships, and increased brand awareness.

If you're outgoing, creative, enjoy meeting new people, and want a role where you can get out from behind a desk and make a measurable impact in the community, we'd love to hear from you.

Compensation

  • $20-$22/hour
