FPS Gaming Social Media Intern

Social Media Marketing Intern

About the Job

ETC Interactive is an independent game studio based in New York City. We are a tight-knit team of passionate gamers building Special Authority, a 72-player extraction-style first-person shooter built from the ground up in Unreal Engine, launching in 2027.

We are looking for a Social Media Marketing Intern to help us build an audience for the game between now and launch.

We’re especially interested in someone who is a big FPS gamer and genuinely understands online gaming culture. If you spend your free time playing games like Call of Duty, Warzone, DMZ, Battlefield, Escape from Tarkov, or similar competitive and extraction shooters—and already follow the creators, memes, clips, updates, and conversations around these games—you are the kind of person we want to hear from.

This is an early role. You will help decide which platforms are worth our time, what our voice sounds like, and what we post. You will work directly with the founders, turning what happens inside the studio into things people actually want to watch, share, and talk about.

Responsibilities

· Represent ETC Interactive and Special Authority across gaming communities day to day, posting, replying, and joining conversations from both the studio and game accounts

· Capture and edit clips of the game and our development process into short videos for TikTok, YouTube Shorts, X, and Instagram

· Work directly with the founders to develop post ideas, translating what we are building into content worth following

· Shape our community engagement strategy: which platforms deserve effort, what cadence works, and what our voice should be

· Grow our following ahead of launch and tell us plainly what is working and what is not

· Help establish and moderate community spaces such as Discord as our audience grows

Qualifications

· You’re a big FPS gamer. You regularly play and follow games such as Call of Duty, Warzone, DMZ, Battlefield, Escape from Tarkov, or similar FPS, extraction-shooter, and competitive multiplayer games. You understand the terminology, humor, trends, creators, clips, and conversations that matter to these communities.

· Experience growing a social account or online community. Personal accounts, gaming communities, YouTube/TikTok channels, Discord servers, and hobby projects absolutely count.

· Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in marketing, communications, media, or a related field, or have equivalent hands-on experience running social accounts

· Comfortable editing short-form video in CapCut, Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, or similar software

· A strong written voice and an instinct for what works differently on TikTok, YouTube, X, Instagram, Discord, and other platforms

· Self-directed. We do not have a marketing team for you to slot into, so you will need to bring your own ideas, propose a plan, experiment, and tell us what is and is not working.

You do not need previous professional game-industry experience. If you’re a student who already spends a lot of time in FPS communities and has experience creating content, running social accounts, editing gaming clips, growing a Discord, or building an audience around your own projects, we want to hear from you.

This role can be performed remotely or in person from our New York City studio, whichever suits you. Some overlap with Eastern Time working hours is expected.

This is a part-time internship that runs alongside your classes during the fall, winter, and/or spring terms, with hours flexible around your schedule, exams, and breaks.

We are looking to bring someone on as soon as possible, and we are open to continuing across more than one term. If you are pursuing academic credit, we will work with your school on whatever paperwork it needs.

Compensation

The expected pay range for this position is $17 to $25 per hour. The actual compensation offered will be determined in good faith based on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, school-set academic credit requirements, and skills.
