Director Of Tutoring
Overview:
This role is for someone with the pedagogical experience and training to know exactly what good teaching looks like — and who has the organizational instincts and authority to hold a team to that standard.
Working remotely alongside a team of admissions and operations colleagues, the Director of Tutoring owns everything that happens after a student is matched with a tutor: the quality of sessions, the rigor of progress reports, and the professional development of the tutors themselves.
This is a senior role that requires equal parts academic depth, management confidence, and meticulous follow-through. The Director also carries their own tutoring caseload.
What you'll do:
- Conduct training and supervise all tutors: assign students, observe sessions, give ongoing feedback, and manage performance with clarity and consistency
- Review and approve every student progress report before it reaches a family
- Build and maintain report templates, review cadences, and quality benchmarks
- Onboard new tutors and run ongoing professional development
- Coordinate with admissions Campaign Managers to align tutoring support and test registrations with each student’s application timeline and academic goals
- Coordinate with other sectors of the academic team to ensure continuity as students transition to new schools, universities, or programs
- Carry your own tutoring caseload while maintaining the same standards expected across the team
Experience & Motivation:
- Strong pedagogical background and substantial teaching or tutoring experience
- Ability to evaluate instructional quality across multiple subjects and academic levels
- Experience supervising, training, mentoring, or managing educators
- Excellent written English and strong editorial judgment
- Strong understanding of student progress reporting and communication with families
- Experience building academic workflows, templates, and quality-control systems
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple student cases simultaneously
- Experience working effectively in a remote environment
- Ability and willingness to maintain an active tutoring caseload
