Job description
- The candidate can perform routine molecular experiments under the guidance of a senior member. The experiments include western blot analysis, cell culture, RT-PCR analysis etc that are related to cancer biology.
- Maintain mouse colonies by performing genotyping.
- Commit to working on time sensitive projects that require detailed work instruction and record keeping.
- Is reliable, trustworthy and has the capacity to be engaged in scientific gear projects.
- Understanding the degree of responsibility and holding the work done at high regard.
- Work well with others and can prioritize tasks on an as needed basis.
Actual duties
- Perform routine molecular and cellular biology experiments under the supervision and guidance of senior laboratory personnel. Experimental procedures include, but are not limited to, mammalian cell culture, protein extraction, Western blot analysis, RNA isolation, reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), quantitative PCR, plasmid preparation, and other techniques commonly used in cancer biology research.
- Assist with the maintenance and characterization of genetically engineered mouse colonies, including animal husbandry support, tissue collection, DNA extraction, PCR-based genotyping, and accurate record keeping to ensure proper colony management.
- Support ongoing cancer research projects by following established experimental protocols, collecting and analyzing data, maintaining detailed laboratory notebooks, and contributing to the generation of reproducible and high-quality research results.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety regulations, biosafety guidelines, and institutional policies governing research activities.
Qualifications:
Prior knowledge and technical skills in molecular biology
Knowledge of general laboratory safety practices
Knowledge of general laboratory safety practices, biosafety procedures, and proper handling of biological materials.
Ability to follow detailed protocols, troubleshoot routine technical issues, and work independently after appropriate training.
Preferred qualification with prior laboratory experience and technical proficiency in molecular biology techniques, including cell culture, Western blotting, PCR, RT-PCR, nucleic acid isolation, and basic biochemical assays.
