Position Overview

BWXT is seeking a Talent Acquisition (TA) Intern to join our Human Resources team for summer 2027. This internship is designed for a student who wants to understand how full lifecycle recruiting actually works inside a national security manufacturer - from sourcing and candidate care through offer, clearance and onboarding.

This position is on-site with Hybrid potential and while Lynchburg, VA is our preferred location, we may also consider candidates seated near other major sites of BWXT, such as Barberton, OH, Oak Ridge, TN, Euclid, OH, and others.

 

 

Your Day to Day as a TA intern:

  • Partner with Recruiters across skilled craft, professional and engineering roles, and learns how sourcing strategy differs for each.
  • Serve as a point of contact for candidates through interview, pre-interview and onboarding, helping to deliver a responsive and professional candidate experience.
  • Coordinate phone screens, on-site interviews, candidate travel and expense reimbursement and pre-employment testing using an applicant tracking system.
  • Shadow Recruiters on passive sourcing calls and learn to use sourcing tools, Boolean search and talent pipelining techniques.
  • Pull and organize recruiting metrics including time to fill, source of hire, pipeline health and help turn them into something a hiring manager can act on.
  • Collaborate with TA team, site HR partners and hiring managers.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's program in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Psychology, Communications or a closely related field.
  • Rising Junior, Senior or Graduate student status at the time the internship begins.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to track many moving pieces at once.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving ability; comfort working with data.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DOE clearance.

 

Preferred Additional Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Excel and Teams.
  • Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (e.g. SuccessFactors) or HRIS platforms.
  • Prior internship, campus leadership, customer service or recruiting-adjacent experience.
  • Working knowledge of US employment law fundamentals (EEO, OFCCP, FLSA).
