Workforce Development Program Intern

Position Overview:
The Greater Memphis Local Workforce Development Board (GMLWDB) is seeking a motivated college intern to support our team in improving workforce initiatives across the Memphis area.

The intern will assist with data analysis, reporting, and administrative tasks that support workforce programs. 

This position is ideal for a student who is interested in gaining hands-on experience in workforce development, data evaluation, and public service.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect, organize, and analyze workforce program data using Excel and other data tools.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and written communications for internal and external stakeholders using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Support staff with research projects, grant tracking, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Help maintain accurate and up-to-date records in compliance with program requirements.
  • Contribute to team meetings and provide general administrative support as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university program (preferred fields: Business, Public Administration, Economics, Data Analytics, or related).
  • Strong interest or experience in data analysis and research.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), with advanced skills in Excel (creating charts, using formulas, managing spreadsheets).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Professionalism, reliability, and a willingness to learn.


Position Details:

  • Part-time, flexible hours to accommodate class schedules.
  • Paid internship (hourly rate to be discussed).
  • Duration: Semester-based or as agreed.
  • Work location: Greater Memphis Workforce Development Board offices (with potential for some remote work).
