ABOUT AUGMENT VENTURES
Augment Ventures is an early-stage venture capital firm backing founders who use AI to rewire foundational industries — manufacturing, supply chain, healthcare, energy, fintech, and the future of work. We are seasoned builders turned investors, and we bring deep sector knowledge and strategic networks to a portfolio of more than 30 companies. Inc. named us one of its Top Founder-Friendly Investors of 2024.
THE ROLE
We are hiring a Chief of Staff to work directly with firm leadership and own several of Augment’s most important firm-building initiatives. You will be the operating lead across marketing and communications, strategic projects, and investor relations — the person who makes sure the firm communicates well with its investors, its founders, and the broader ecosystem.
This is a high-ownership role with unusual exposure to how a venture firm actually works. It suits someone who writes exceptionally well, organizes relentlessly, operates independently, and is genuinely curious about the business of building an investment firm.
WHAT YOU’LL OWN
Marketing & Communications
- Own the firm’s marketing calendar and the execution of all external communications.
- Manage Augment’s LinkedIn presence, newsletter, website content, and portfolio announcements.
- Develop content that brings the firm’s investment thesis, portfolio companies, founders, and advisor network to a wider audience.
- Work with the investment team and portfolio companies to surface stories worth telling, then run the publications, events, and campaigns that carry them.
- Hold the line on messaging, positioning, and brand standards, and manage the designers, writers, and event partners who support them.
- Track engagement and use what you learn to sharpen the strategy.
Firm Strategy & Operations
- Partner with firm leadership on high-priority initiatives that cross functional lines.
- Turn those priorities into defined projects with owners, timelines, and deliverables — then drive them to completion.
- Prepare research and materials for internal meetings, investor discussions, portfolio initiatives, and strategic planning.
- Improve the internal processes, systems, and workflows the firm runs on.
- Coordinate across the investment team, portfolio companies, investors, and advisors — and step into new projects as the firm’s needs evolve.
Investor Relations
- Serve as the central point of contact for Augment’s existing and prospective limited partners.
- Own LP communications end to end: quarterly updates, annual meeting materials, portfolio updates, and capital communications.
- Support fundraising by maintaining the investor pipeline, coordinating meetings, preparing materials, and driving follow-up.
- Run investor onboarding — subscription documents, data room, ongoing requests — and keep the CRM, fund administration, and reporting systems accurate.
- Plan and execute Augment’s annual meeting and other LP-focused events.
- Build the systems that make the Augment investor experience consistently professional.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Experience in venture capital, private equity, investment management, startups, consulting, investor relations, or communications.
- Exceptional writing. You can turn complex information into concise, polished material.
- Strong project-management and organizational instincts, with real attention to detail.
- The ability to carry multiple priorities independently, from loosely defined objective to finished work.
- Sound judgment and discretion with confidential investor, portfolio, and firm information.
- Comfort communicating with institutional investors, executives, founders, and other senior stakeholders.
- Fluency with presentation, CRM, productivity, and communication tools.
- Genuine interest in venture capital, technology, startups, and the work of building an investment firm.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
A year in, you are the person who makes sure Augment’s most important firm-building work gets done, and gets done well. Investor communications go out on time and read beautifully, fundraising is organized, the firm holds a consistent external presence, and leadership has meaningfully more capacity for investing and relationships. In return, you get a full view of how a venture firm operates — fundraising, LP relationships, portfolio companies, investment strategy, and long-term platform development.
