IT INTERN

Wood Financial Group | Hendersonville, TN | Full-Time Internship |  $15/hr

ABOUT THE ROLE

Wood Financial Group, a retirement income planning firm, is seeking a motivated IT Intern for an AI-focused role. WFG is actively investing in AI, and this intern will work directly on AI-focused projects — learning tools like Claude, ChatGPT, Canva, and Zapier, and helping the firm figure out how AI and technology can make our operations more efficient. As we don't have an in-house IT department, this role also offers broad exposure to the systems that keep the firm running, from CRM platforms to phone systems.

This is an excellent opportunity for a college senior or graduate student pursuing a degree in Information Technology who wants real-world exposure to how technology supports a financial services business.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Work on AI-focused projects assigned directly by leadership — e.g., helping scope and build out projects using tools like Claude, ChatGPT, Canva, and Zapier
  • Research how AI and other technology tools can improve efficiency across the firm, and help document findings and use cases
  • Assist with CRM (Salesforce) administration, data hygiene, and user support
  • Support automation and integration projects (Zapier, webhooks, Power Automate)
  • Provide basic help desk support for staff — login issues, connectivity, and general hardware/software troubleshooting
  • Support vendor coordination for IT-related tools and services (RingCentral, Microsoft 365, security software, etc.)
  • Assist with onboarding/offboarding technology setup for new hires
  • Help maintain and organize digital files, shared drives, and system documentation
  • Document processes and create simple how-to guides for staff

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (rising senior or graduate student preferred)
  • Comfortable learning new software platforms quickly
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff
  • Detail-oriented with good organizational and documentation habits
  • Ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal day-to-day supervision

PREFERRED (NOT REQUIRED)

  • Experience with or interest in Salesforce CRM
  • Interest in or experience with AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, and similar platforms
